My Untidy Workshop |
Chaos are Us
Actually, its a bit tidier than this at the moment, but not much. All the information will be updated from time to time, but will probably jump from one thing to another. The trouble with being interested in so many things, is that you fill up your workshop with acquisitions (my wife calls it junk). I'm the sort of person that doesn't like to throw stuff away, as I can usually find a use for it, unfortunately it might take some years for the use to come into the light. |
Workbench and Mini Mill |
Bench Tools
The back of the benches and the benches themselves are rigidly fitted to the floor wall and ceiling joists. The tool are held by a mixture of Panel Pins, Screws and spring clips. The tool layout is not set in stone, it changes as I find certain tools more useful than others. |
Lighting for the benches, is by means of 5 foot fluorescent lamps mounted on the ceiling above each bench. Each lamp is then shaded by a 4" wooden board, to which all manner of goodies are attached. Including the row of film canisters that are fastened to the bottom. These are ideal for all the little bits and pieces that are normally put in a SAFE place, and disappear forever. |

Tidy Work Bench |
A Nice Clear Bench
An animal, not often seen, but a view of great satisfaction, as it means, I'm starting something new. The black blob on the left is a marble surface table, with an electronic height gauge and a V block perched on top. On the right is my Tool Turntable where all my main files, screwdrivers, spanners, screwdriver bits, toothbrushes etc are kept for handy use. |
Cut Off Band Saw |
Band Saw A most useful piece of kit, this more than any other tool in the work shop, stops prevarication about getting started on a job. If your first purchase is a lathe, your second purchase should be a band saw. |
Rotary Tool Holder
|
A Tudedude Rotary Tool Rack One of the most useful additions, to my workshop and my work bench, has been my rotary tool rack. Cheap easy to make, and extremely useful. Makes finding and storing tools so much easier, and the number of tools it holds is amazing.

Mini Mill |
Mini Mill These are very handy little machines, used with care and "light cuts" all sorts of shapes and devices may be produced. My preferred device for drilling, although some find the "quill" (the bit that holds the chuck/Mills etc) a bit heavy. Milling can be done on the lathe but it tends to be easier and more accessible with one of these handy devices.
